Meet the Photographer

Hey there, I'm Sophie. And I am so glad you're here.

I don’t simply capture images — I craft visual stories that reveal the quiet poetry woven through your most meaningful moments. My work lives where light and emotion meet, where elegance embraces authenticity, and where each frame becomes a timeless piece of art.

I’m Sophie Fulkerson, a wedding and portrait photographer rooted in Columbus, Ohio. With a lens shaped by intuition and intention, I seek out the delicate, unguarded moments — the subtle glances, the whispered laughter, the emotions that speak louder than words. My approach is editorial yet intimate, vibrant yet effortlessly natural.

For me, photography is a collaboration — a shared journey where your truth is honored and elevated. If you believe your story deserves to be seen in its fullest, most beautiful form, then you’ve come to the right place.

My approach

Editing Approach

My photography brings your moments to life in rich, vivid colors—just like your eyes saw them. When you look at my photos, you’ll feel like you’re stepping right back into that exact moment, with greens glowing, colors bursting, and every detail telling your true story. I don’t chase the usual light and airy or dark and moody looks; instead, I capture the perfect in-between—full of life, balanced, and real—so your story shines just the way it happened.

The Posing Method

I call my approach “guided candid”—a perfect blend of direction and spontaneity. Instead of leaving you to pose stiffly or hoping for magic to happen on its own, I gently encourage natural, playful moments that bring out your true personalities. Maybe I’ll ask you to run down the sidewalk singing your favorite song or whisper something silly to each other. It might feel a little playful (or even a bit silly), but that’s exactly how we capture real laughter, genuine connection, and those effortlessly beautiful moments—with just the right touch of guidance from me.

The Value of Life

A little over three years ago, I lost my Great Grandmother—my best friend. Though her passing wasn’t unexpected, the weight of that loss shattered my heart. As my Mother and Grandmother planned the funeral, I quietly took on the role of assembling photo albums and creating a memory board.

When our family approached her casket, they paused—drawn to the images I had so carefully chosen. Her wedding day with my late Great Grandfather. The birth of my Grandmother. Cousins nestled in her lap. My first Halloween costume. Her last Christmas. The final photo I ever took of her. It was in that quiet, sacred moment that I realized: I wasn’t just putting together a tribute. I was preserving a legacy.

That experience forever changed how I see photography. It deepened my belief in the value of capturing life’s fleeting, beautiful moments. Today, I photograph with purpose—blending a photojournalistic eye with a fine art approach. My mission is to create images that don’t just live in photo albums, but in hearts—passed down through generations, telling stories of love, connection, and life well-lived.

Who you're hiring

I’m an Ohio-raised, art-loving, fashion-enthusiast who feels emotions deeply and embraces authenticity. Currently, I reside in Columbus, Ohio, with my partner, Drew. My hobbies include pickleball, cooking, and euchre!

I thrive on coffee and find peace in the buzz of a lively café. I’m hooked on corny self-help podcasts and have a fascination with true crime documentaries. My personality is a wild mix—I’m outgoing and chatty, with a passion for breaking out into dance moves at weddings. Yet, I’m also incredibly driven, obsessing over business strategies and marketing methods, often taking life a bit too seriously.

Growing up, my mother filled our home with Vogue and People magazines. She had a keen eye for fashion, and I was endlessly fascinated by the way she noticed fabrics, color palettes, and the smallest details in a photograph or outfit. Flipping through those glossy pages became a cherished ritual—one that quietly shaped the way I saw the world.

While I spent much of my childhood playing sports and fishing with my Papaw, it was those moments with my mother’s magazines that planted the first seeds of my creative eye. Over time, I began to notice how light hits a subject, how mood is captured in a glance, how a single detail—a wrinkle in fabric, a freckle on skin—can tell an entire story.

That early exposure to high fashion awakened something in me. It taught me that art lives in the details, in the imperfect, and in the real. Photography became my way of capturing those fleeting moments—the unpolished and honest ones that make life beautiful.
