My turn at this engagement thing

Having my own engagement photos taken with Drew in Bexley, Ohio was such a surreal experience. As a photographer, I’m so used to being on the other side of the camera—directing, adjusting, fixing hair, and making sure my couples feel completely comfortable. Being the one in front of the lens? A lot harder than I expected.

Drew and I spent the session laughing, wandering around Bexley, and trying our best to forget there was a camera pointed at us. And honestly, it gave me an entirely new appreciation for my couples. I know firsthand now how vulnerable and awkward it can feel to have your photos taken, and how much it matters to have a photographer who knows how to make you feel like yourselves. These photos are some of my favorites—not because we looked perfectly posed, but because they feel like us, and that is exactly what I want every couple I photograph to feel when they see their own photos.

These photos were extra special because they were photographed by my friend, associate, and one of my favorite people, @mickenzieferrell.photo. Having Mickenzie behind the camera made the experience feel so natural and fun, and I loved getting to be on the other side of the camera with someone I trust completely. I then had the joy of editing the images myself, bringing them back to the signature Soph Fulk Photo look and making this gallery feel completely like us.
